Luke Buford Jr.

Luke Buford, Jr., 68, of Ragley, LA., passed away on March 22, 2017 in a local hospital. Luke was born in DeRidder, LA, on December 29, 1948, to Luke and Leontine Buford, Sr.

Luke served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. After leaving the Army he worked as a heavy equipment operator and loved anything to do with heavy equipment. Luke loved his children and his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Luke is preceded in death by his parents along with his brother Raymond Buford.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 14 years, Barry Lynn Anderson Buford, his son John Melvin Buford (Debbie) of San Antonio, TX and his daughter Angela Buford Melancon (Russell), of Catahoula, LA. He also leaves his granddaughter, Savannah Leontine Buford. Luke has three sisters; Dorothy Nixon of Gillis, LA., Betty McClelland of Vidor, TX, and, Frances Hagen of Ragley, LA.

The family will receive friends from 1PM until 7PM on Friday, March 24, in the Chapel at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue in the Chapel on Saturday morning beginning at 10AM. A Rosary will be held on Saturday at 4PM with services beginning at 5PM. Cremation is entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home after the services.

Luke asked that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Center in lieu of flowers.
