Lynn James Benoit

Lynn James Benoit, born November 2, 1947, son of the late Elton Peter and Sylvia June (LeJeune) Benoit, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, at age 74.

Lynn attended Marion High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy and was proud of his service. He retired from Entergy after 43 years, formerly known as Gulf States Utilities as line supervisor Upon his retirement, he and his wife, Carolyn, owned and operated C & L Repair, which serviced Firestone.

An avid car lover, he was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of American, and the Contraband Corvette Club. Lynn was a lifelong member of the NHRA, actively participated in drag racing starting in the mid 1970’s to present. Lynn participated in all aspects of drag racing, including chassis building, engine building, and tuning.

Lynn also had a love for RV’ing/camping, which included spending quality time with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Sylvia Faye Benoit.

Lynn is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn (Downs) Benoit; children, Michelle LeBleu (Mike), Kimberly Benoit (Marc LeFranc), Lisa Hedgecock (Jason), and Jason Benoit (Lacey); twin brother, Glynn Benoit, and other siblings, David Benoit (Jackie), Cynthia Vidrine (Kenneth “Buddy”), and Douglas Benoit (Sandy); grandchildren, Ashley, Allie, Corey, Cameron, Conner, Abby, Kaden, Kaylee, and Stratton; great-grandchildren, Maddy, Brynlee, Callie, Maddox, and Beckett.

Funeral services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa, Monday, July 25, 2022, at 10 a.m. with his son-in-law, Jason Hedgecock officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Sunday in the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will resume Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of service. Pallbearers assisting in his service are Jason Benoit, Tommy Miller, Terry Miller, Conner Guzzetta, Cameron Guzzetta, and Danny Miller.
