Lynn Marie Hale, 98, passed away peacefully in her Lake Charles, Louisiana home on Thursday, February 19, 2026. She was born on October 8, 1927, to Robert J. and Elizabeth Toomey Heintz in Chicago, Illinois.

Lynn was known to her family as “Big Mom” and to her closest friends as “Lynne.” She was raised in Chicago, Illinois until she met and married her loving late husband, William M. “Rudy” Hale, and settled in Lake Charles, Louisiana where they raised three sons, the late Robert “Bob” Hale, Steven W. Hale, and the late David G. Hale. Lynn was a faithful devoted member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.

She was known for being a loving, caring and doting grandmother who offered steadfast guidance to her seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and dear lifelong friends.

During her marriage she was actively involved providing guidance and assistance to her husband’s businesses, including VIP Construction Company, development of Timberly Terrace and St. Charles Place subdivisions, Lee-Dee Wholesale Distributing Company, Inc., Hale Wholesale Distributing Company, Inc., E.Z. Aces Gaming Company, Inc., Ryan Street Piccadilly Cafeteria, Madrid Apartments, Heritage Square I & II, Caruso Olive Tree Restaurant, two New Orleans nursing homes and Cherokee Marine Bonded Company.

Lynn was an avid duplicate bridge player who could often be found at the Lake Charles Bridge Club. She was a voracious reader who also enjoyed art and was an amateur painter. She loved to cook and host family holiday events sharing her favorite dishes and was known for enjoying a glass of wine with her many friends at local restaurants.

Lynn’s kind heart, steadfast guidance, determination, strength, generosity, calming presence, smile and humor will be dearly missed by all, but we find peace and comfort knowing she is with the Lord and her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William “Rudy” Hale, Jr., her sons, Bob and David Hale, and grandson, William H. Hale. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Steven W.
