Mabel Featherston

Mabel Berzas Featherston, 90, of Baytown, TX, died at 11:35 PM on Saturday, April 29, 2017 in her residence.

Mrs. Featherston was born July 22, 1926 in Chataignier, LA, and lived over seventy years in Lake Charles before moving to Baytown, TX two years ago.  She was the owner / operator of The Sewing Basket and Humpty Dumpty Nursery and Pre-school prior to her retirement.  She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, where she was a Catholic Daughter.  Mrs. Featherston enjoyed traveling, sewing for her children and grandchildren and loved to fill her family’s bellies with her wonderful cooking.  She loved her family dearly and during the past two weeks was able to spend time with all of her grandchildren before her passing.

Mrs. Featherston is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Harold Earl Featherston; daughters, Mary Lisa Newman and husband Scott Adam Newman and Angela Faith Rawson and husband Jimmie Wayne Rawson, Jr., all of Baytown, TX; brother, Will Berzas and wife Wyonna of Lake Charles; twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harris Paul Stephens; children, Karen Dianne Tressitt-Williams, Ronald Chris Stephens, and Jacolyn Paulette LeDoux; Parents, Rose and Willie Berzas and three sisters.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at St. Margaret Catholic Church.  Father Vijaya Prakash will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the funeral home from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM.
