Iowa – Mable Martin, 75, passed away in a local care facility on Sunday, February 26, 2017.
She was born in Lake Arthur to the late Olidie and Eda (McLean) Leger on December 10, 1941. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Iowa and was a catechism teacher and coordinator for many years. Mable operated The Barn Daycare for 10 years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Adonis Martin, Jr. ; daughters, Donna Thibodeaux (Robert Faul), Deborah Gibson (Kevin), Darlene Freeman (Jeff), Pam Frank (Gerald); siblings, Elmer Leger, Arthur Leger (Dorothy), Susan Smith (Jody Serio); 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mable is preceded in death by her parents, Olidie and Eda Leger; grandson, Dustin Baccigalopi; siblings, Warren Leger, Aline Leger, Jane Guidry.
Visitation is Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home with a rosary at 6 p.m. and will resume Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral services are Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home with Father Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home.
