Iowa – Mable M. McVicker, 91, passed away in Jennings American Legion Hospital December 27, 2015.
Mrs. McVicker was born in Welsh on November 14, 1924 to the late Paul and Alzire Hardy Lognion. She graduated from Lacassine High and was a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She loved being with her family and traveling. Her children declare she was the best cook and made the best fried chicken.
Survivors include her children, Marvin McVicker (Stella) of Trout Creek, CO, Marlene Portier (Harold) of Katy, TX, Evadine Ardoin (Freddie) of Lacassine, David McVicker (Tina) of Iowa and Wayne McVicker (Denise) of Lacassine; 1 brother, Jackie Lognion (Annette) of Welsh and 2 sisters; brother-in-law, Laddie McVicker of Baton Rouge; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Rose Schlesinger and her cat, Socks. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eudine McVicker; parents; sister, Rosalie Kelley and 1 brother.
A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Roland Vaughn officiating on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation begins Tuesday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. and continues Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Pallbearers assisting in her service will be Brent Collins, Eric Ardoin, J. P. and Christopher McVicker, Derick Hoffpauir and Chad Roubique. Honorary will be Ronnie “Pumpkin” Kelley.
The McVicker family would like to thank Mrs. Catherine & Cathleen for the excellent care of their mom.
