Hayes – Madeline A. Leonard, born August 5, 1939 in Hayes, daughter of the late Nelton and Anastasie Richard Aucoin, passed away in her residence, Thursday, October 17, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 80.
Madeline was a graduate of Bell City High School and a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bell City. She retired from Calcasieu Parish School Board as a bus driver.
Madeline is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Paul J. Leonard; children, Martha Fontenot (Mickey); Molly Bertrand (Dale); Marcus Leonard (Deborah); Melvin Leonard (Johnny); Malcolm Leonard (Penny); Mitchell Leonard; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Genevive O’Blanc; Percy & Weldon Aucoin; grandson, Curry Leonard; great-grandson, Callen Nazworth.
A Mass of Christian burial is Monday, October 21, 2019 at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lacassine. Rev. Roland Vaughn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation is Sunday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m., and a Celebration of Life to follow. Visitation will resume Monday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Pallbearers assisting in her service are Paul Bertrand; Michael Fontenot; Keegan Leonard; Devin Leonard; Kamron Reber; Corte Leonard. Serving as honorary pallbearer is Liam Bryant.
