Madeline " Sarge" Spears

Iowa – Madeline “Mrs. Sarge” Spears, born in Lafayette on August 18, 1943, daughter of the late Alcide and Daisy Manuel, passed away August 3, 2024, at the age of eighty.

A graduate of Kinder High School, Madeline enjoyed painting pictures, cooking, crossword puzzles, fishing, and most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Madison Manuel, Tom Manuel, Mack Manuel, Rena Lafosse, and Alice Fontenot.

Madeline is survived by her loving and devoted husband of fifty-nine years, Edwin “Sarge” Spears; children, David Paul Spears (Geri Lynn), Paula Denise Frazier (Ken); grandchildren, Derrick, Danielle, Demi, Tyler, Harrison, Camryn; great grandchildren, Kamden, Adalynn, Verity.

Funeral services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 10 a.m. Rev. Roland Vaughn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin Tuesday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. and will resume Wednesday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.
