Madelyn Sue “Pookie” Stacy McCallister, 82, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, after a brief illness. She was born April 17, 1944, to Mary Corbello and Clifford Stacy in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Madelyn owned the Family Bakery in Westlake for several years. She especially loved making cinnamon rolls and would generously give them to local fire stations and police departments during the holidays. Madelyn worked various jobs throughout her life, always keeping busy. She was also the president of the Shriners Women’s Group. In her free time, Madelyn enjoyed shopping, tole painting, and spending time with her family and friends, especially during the holidays.
Those left to cherish her memories are her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, Larry Clinton McCallister; her children, Sandy Jones and husband, David, Dana Broussard and husband, Roy, Stacy Owens, and Darin Owens and wife, Jade; her grandchildren, Regan and wife, Anne, Katherine, Clifford and husband, Brian, Cody, Shannon, Skylar, and Ike; her great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Eloise, Rosemary, Molly, Blake, and Christian; her brother, Jerry Lynn Stacy; and her three nephews.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; her brother, Charles Joseph Broussard; and her great-grandson, Gregory Layne Stacy.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home, with Pastor David Free officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday and continue until the time of service.
