Mae Dell Richard Ransom

November 6, 1935 — December 15, 2018

Mae Dell Richard Ransom, 83, of Sulphur died Saturday, December 15, 2018 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Ransom was a native of Sweetlake and lived most of her adult life in Sulphur.  She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, her meatballs and gravy and roast and potatoes were amongst some of her best dishes.  She also enjoyed collecting snowmen, tending to her plants and flowers and especially loved music, singing and dancing.  Mrs. Ransom will be most remembered for her love and devotion to her family.  She always had an open door to welcome nieces, nephews, her children’s friends and neighbors.  She had a kind, loving heart, most interested in caring for those around her.  Her greatest joy was the time she shared with her granddaughter.  Mrs. Ransom attended Bethany Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her twin sons, Bruce Neal Ransom of Lake Charles and Brian Nolton Ransom and husband Jun Lee of Palm Springs, CA and youngest son, Paul Sean Ransom and wife Emily of Moss Bluff; one granddaughter, Addisyn Grace Ransom of Moss Bluff; brother-in-law, Morgan “Black” Faulk of Grand Lake; sister-in-law, Nelda Stanley and husband Gene of Lake Charles  and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Chesson and her husband of forty-three years, Bobby Ray Ransom; two sons, Mitchell James Ransom and Jody Lane Chesson and two sisters, Jean Nell Brashear and Melba Lois Faulk.

The family of Mrs. Ransom would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of DaVita Lake Charles Southwest Dialysis and of Grand Cove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their excellence in care and compassion.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 PM Wednesday, December 19, 2018 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Reverend Gene Stanley will officiate.  Visitation Tuesday will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
