Maggie Istre Monic, 91, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 11:06 PM on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Monic was born March 1, 1925 in Mermentau, LA and worked as a young woman in Jennings. For a number of years, she was a cafeteria server in the Jennings area schools and was an avid gardener. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, where she was a Catholic Daughter and a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound. She also enjoyed volunteering with Abraham’s Tent.
Mrs. Monic is survived by her daughter, Dinah Kloor and husband Michael of Lake Charles; son, Mitch Monic and wife Helen of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Cheri Hubbard and husband Rob, Melissa Passant and husband Kip, Aundrea Daly and husband Scott, Monnette Coppola and husband Justin, and Marcus Kloor and wife Courtney; great-grandchildren, Alexis, David, Olivia, Malia, Alex, Gus, Sofia, Adeleine, and Caroline; and great-great-grandson, Anthony.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, John Monic; parents, Clophes and Evela Richard Istre; and sisters, Estelle, Elaine, Anita, and Hilda.
Her funeral service will be held 9:00 AM on Monday, December 5, 2016 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Father Marcus Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday at the funeral home from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM.
