Malinda "Mendy" Wilson

Malinda “Mendy” Burnett Wilson, 59, of Morgan City, LA, died suddenly on Friday, June 23, 2017, in her friend’s residence.

 

Mendy was born November 23, 1957, in Thibodaux, LA, was raised in Lake Charles, LA and lived in Morgan City for over twenty years. She graduated from Lake Charles High School and Young Memorial Technical College in Morgan City. She had a passion for the water and loved fishing and boating. She will always be remembered for her big heart, as she was always helping others and for her devotion to her husband.

 

Mendy is survived by her husband of twenty-two years, James Allen Wilson, Assistant Senior Investigative Officer for the U.S. Coast Guard; children, Jimmy Wilson (Kelly) of South Carolina and Lisa Dahl (Jason) of Hawaii; grandchildren, Whitney and Tucker Wilson and Kila and Koi Dahl and one on-the-way; siblings, Jerry Charles Burnett (Sheila) of New Hampshire and Jennifer Burnett Ballard (Greg) of Lake Charles; sister-in-law, Roberta Derby Burnett of Lake Charles; life-long friend, Marlayne Benoit Terro of Lake Charles; nieces and nephews with whom she shared a special bond, Walton, Anissa, Stephanie, Kenny, Niki, Keli, Debi, D.J., and Rani; and many other family members that she loved dearly.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Charles and Leta Burnett; and siblings, Sue Aucoin (Lester), Jimmy Anthony Burnett, and Peggy Lynn Burnett.

 

Her memorial service will be held at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon George Carr will officiate. A gathering of family members and friends will be on Tuesday from 3:30 PM until the start of the service.
