It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mardrie Faye Roussell on April 30, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on September 3, 1954, in Crowley, Louisiana, Mardrie lived a life full of love and compassion, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
Mardrie was a cherished mother to her three children, Carlton Roussell (Kylie), Jason Roussell (Jennifer), and Misti Roussell. She took pride in being a loving grandmother to her grandchildren: Laiken (Ariel), Hunter (Kenzi), Lainey (Brady), Jaselyn (Logan), Jace (Allison), Kaleb, Landon, Halle, Lex, Gabe, and Kambrie, as well as her great-grandchildren, Vada, Valli, Hollis, Hitch, Vanci, and one on the way. She appreciated the love and support from the father of her children, Dwayne Roussell, and cherished her relationships with her siblings, Arthur Darbone, Pat "Ann" Barker, Wanda Halari (Rauf), Brenda Locke (David), and Debra Mendoza (Frank). Mardrie's life was also enriched by her many nieces, nephews, and her beloved godchildren, Lauren Precht Thompson, William Precht, Frankie Mendoza, and Jordan Roussell. She cherished the time spent with her best friends, Debora Precht and Jona Daigle.
A devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Mardrie served as a Catholic Daughter, showing her unwavering faith and commitment to her community. She found joy in sewing lots of baby blankets for many loved ones, gardening, and listening to classic country and oldies, hobbies that brought her much happiness throughout her life.
Her loved ones will gather on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa for a time of reflection and celebration of Mardrie's life. A Rosary will be held at 1:30 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to join together for a Gathering of Friends beginning at 12:00 PM to share memories and support one another during this difficult time.
Margie Faye will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, witty sense of humor, unwavering loyalty to her family and friends, and her boundless kindness. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to shine in the hearts of those she touched.
Mardrie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Darbone and Marion Stakes; her sister, Lydia Bernard; brothers-in-law, Duke Bernard, Stafford Barker, and sister-in-law, Brenda Darbone.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to St. Jude in memory of Mardrie.
