Margaret Diane Pearce

October 13, 1945 — January 30, 2017

Margaret “Diane” Pearce passed away peacefully on Monday, January 30, 2017 with family and friends by her side, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

 

Mrs. Pearce was born in Ville Platte, LA on October 13, 1945, and was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She was a devoted wife, mother, and servant of the Lord. She worked as a P.E. teacher and then a Special Education teacher for the Calcasieu Parish School Board for 30 years. She was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, the Community of Jesus Crucified, and worked in the Cursillo Movement for over 25 years. She also cherished her close group of friends, “The Steel Magnolias”.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 50 years, Reed Pearce, sons David Pearce and wife Tracy of Lake Charles, Kevin Pearce and domestic partner Victoria Montanez of Thousand Oaks, CA, and Jared Pearce and wife Allison of Arvada, CO; granddaughter, Mason Pearce; and grandson Joseph Pearce. She is also survived by her parents, Una Mae and Willie Ortego: one brother, Brian Ortego and wife Robin; and one sister Debbie Dilts.

 

She is preceded in death by one grandson, Vincent Pearce, and brother-in-law, David Dilts.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 2nd at 11:00 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Lake Charles, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Interment will be at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 1st from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Johnson Funeral Home, with a Cursillo Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 am to 10:40 am at Johnson Funeral Home.

 

Pallbearers are Mike Ortego, Scott Ortego, Orin Ortego, Danny Lemons, Brian Hammond, and Nick Walker.
