Margaret Margie Gary

Margaret Margie Gary, born in Lacassine on April 25, 1933, daughter of Roy and Julia Pousson Gary, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the age of 90.
Margie, a graduate of Lacassine High School, class of 1951, received a degree in accounting & business math from Mathieu Business College and a degree in cosmetology from Jane Deman School of Beauty. She worked in the insurance field from 1952 until her retirement in 1995 for Insurance Unlimited as a secretary and insurance agent. She then continued to work for Patty McDaniel as her bookkeeper. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where she served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, choir member and was on the decorating committee. She was a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Betty Ann Thibodeaux, Dorothy Mae Gary, and brother, Nelson John Gary.
Margaret is survived by her sister, Dolores Gary Granger; cousin, Marion “Marie” Pousson, and 19 nieces & nephews and their families.
Funeral services are Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 4 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Rev. Jom Joseph, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Saturday in the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation resumes Sunday from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m.
