Margie Koonce

Margie Koonce passed away on November 11, 2017 at her granddaughter, Tonja’s, residence. She was born on August 15, 1927 in El Dorado, AR. She married Collas Ray, Sr. and raised their family in Lake Charles. After retirement, they bought a home on Toledo Bend Lake, where she resided for the past 25 years.

She is survived by children, Morris (Kathy) Koonce, Janice Dartez, and Donnie (Sherrie) Koonce; daughter-in-law, Paula Koonce, grandchildren, Kimberly Moser, Shane Koonce, Tonja Gaspard, Alicia McCain, Jeremy Koonce, Sarah and Aaron Koonce, and Kassie Kershaw; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also found such joy in her beloved dog, Penny.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Collas Ray, Sr.; sons, Larry and Ray; grandson, Justin Koonce.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at 1:00 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ronnie Estes officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 PM until 8 PM and will resume on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the second-floor staff at LCMH and The Heart of Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
