Marie Louise Berwick

Marie Louise Berwick, age 98, of Iowa, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026. Born on May 25, 1928, in Welsh, Louisiana, Louise lived a life brimming with love, laughter, and compassion.

A devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, Louise was married to her late husband, Wallace Berwick, for 16 wonderful years before he passed in 2019. The memories they created together will forever be treasured by those she leaves behind.

Louise's spirit shone brightly as she cared deeply for her family and friends, bringing joy and light into every room she entered. Known for her warm sense of humor and unwavering compassion, she was a proud member of the Catholic Daughters, St. Raphael Catholic Church, the Iowa Senior Center, and the Cajun French Music Association. A lover of life, Louise enjoyed dancing and playing bingo, embracing every moment with enthusiasm and grace.

She is survived by her beloved children, Sheila Veillon (Mark) and Ronald Shuff (Barbara), both of Iowa, Louisiana, as well as her grandchildren who adored her: Donna Elkins, Michelle Faye, Larry Shuff, Jerry Ihlee, Shannon Veillon, Bridget Thomas, Brandy Veillon, Latasha Fontenot, Tonya Miller, Mikel Veillon, Jake Veillon, and Josh Veillon. In addition, Louise is survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who will carry on her legacy of love.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Berwick; her daughter, Bernadine Shuff; her sons, Stacy Veillon and Mike Veillon; her grandson, Gary Shuff; and her siblings, Herbert Guildeaux and Lillie Mae Arabie.

In honoring Louise's wishes, a rosary will be recited at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and support, with visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will continue on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service celebrating Louise's life at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa. 

As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, let us remember the warmth and joy that Louise brought to each of us. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
