Marie Elaine Farber

October 15, 1947 — May 4, 2026

Marie Farber, 78, passed away on May 4, 2026. Born on October 15, 1947, in Biloxi, Marie spent her early years in Ocean Springs before attending Eunice High School in Louisiana.

As a young woman, she moved to Florida while her husband, Glyn Farber, served at Homestead Air Force Base. In the early 1970s, Marie settled in Lake Charles, where she built a life and called it home for nearly 50 years. She worked as a medical transcriptionist for St. Patrick Hospital and later retired from the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office, dedicating many years of service in her field.

Later in life, Marie moved to The Woodlands, where she lived in an independent living community and continued to embrace life fully.

Marie never met a stranger. Her warm, loving spirit drew people to her instantly, and those who knew her often spoke of how deeply she was loved. She had a generous heart and gave freely and unconditionally to those around her. She loved her two sons dearly and supported them in every way she could.

After experiencing several strokes, Marie moved to The Conservatory in The Woodlands, where she exceeded expectations and flourished in her independence. She faced life's challenges with determination and resilience, always finding a way forward.

She found joy in the simple things-daily walks, water aerobics, exercise classes, meals with friends, shopping trips, and her sticky notes. She especially treasured time spent with her family and carefully avoided anything made with milk.

Marie is survived by her son, Brian Farber and wife Amy of Anderson, Texas; four brothers, Don Marx, David Marx, Doug Marx, and Richard Marx; three sisters, Vivian Kelty, Lynette Hayes, and Joan Crider; four grandchildren, Olivia Farber, Mya Farber, Chris Farber, and Chance Farber; and one great-grandchild, Mia Vincent Lozoya.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Glyn Farber, and her son, Steven Vincent Farber.

A funeral for Marie will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM with a Rosary at noon. Burial will follow the service at New Ritchie cemetery.

Marie will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and the love she gave so freely-leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
