Marie Velma Grace Hebert Poole

Marie Velma Grace Hebert Poole, 83, of Hayes, passed away June 4, 2025, in Lafayette General Hospital.

Velma was born in Cypress Point on March 16, 1942, and lived in Hayes. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mom, grandmother, sister, and friend who enjoyed every moment with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Renell (Poncho) Hoffpauir of Hayes, Warren (Jeanette) Poole of Hayes; sisters, Lorena Fontenot of Lake Arthur, Jean Benoit of Thornwell, Jessi Lou Fontenot of Texas; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents, Luce and Stella Hebert; husband, Elvin Roy Poole; 2 sons, Johnny and Bryan Poole; 5 brothers, Placide, T-Roy, Venance, Jessi Lee and C. L. Hebert, and 1 sister, Emily Futrell.

Funeral services will be in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 1 p.m. Rev. Roland Vaughn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lorrain DeRouen Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin in the funeral home on Monday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., with a rosary recited at 12:30 p.m.

Pallbearers assisting in her service will be Doyle Hoffpauir, Dominic Miller, III, Hunter Miller, Brandon Poole, Wyatt Poole, and Larry Breaux. Honorary are Dominic Miller IV, Larry Breaux III, and Leevi Breaux.
