Marion Tipton Cooper

Born October 25, 1945, to Vera and Bill Tipton, Marion Tipton Cooper died on August 25 2026, and went to meet her sweetheart Michael Lynn Cooper. They were married for 45 years. After being married one year, she gave birth to Deanna Paige. Nearly three years later, they welcomed Frank Marshall.

Marion was the biggest cheerleader for her kids. She was found at all of Deanna’s softball and basketball games, from the Jennings Daily News to McNeese State University. For Frank, she supported every football game from the Comets to Sulphur High. She was also proud of each play Frank performed in, both in high school and local theater.

Marion thoroughly enjoyed shrimping and fishing at Big Lake with great friends Eddie and Sandra (late) Broussard and their three kids: Troy, Julie and Travis. The two families became one. Vacationing, boating, countless days visiting. During her lifetime, Marion had many titles, the Queen of Big Lake, The Old Gray Mar and simply Mar.

She enjoyed crawfish boils in Jennings hosted by her dad where her family would gather and tease about who got “the big claws.” Marion had two sisters and one brother. Judy and Steven (late) Naquin, Karla and Mark Carte, and Bill “Bubba” Tipton (late) along with nieces and nephews.

She also spent countless weekends in Jennings with her in-laws, Verna and Floyd “Butch” Cooper. Here she gathered with Lynn’s three brothers and his sister. There was always laughter games being play and family just enjoying each other’s company. Wayne (late) and Theresa then Joyce, “Red” Pat (late) and Genny, Greg and Mary Beth then Claire and Darlene and Steve Gary. On the Cooper side she also loved her ten nieces and nephews.

When Marion moved to Sulphur she worked for Medical Arts Group where she met many lifelong friends, especially Marlene Vidrine, who she cherished tremendously. These friends and others extended a helping hand for Deanna’s wedding to David L. Smith.

She soon gained the best title ever, “Grammie.” Frank has three daughters, Emily Scuderi and Nick, Alexandra Guillory and Thomas, and Chloe Laughlin and Roger. Deanna Cooper-Smith and David Smith have three children-Leslie (fiancé, Liam), Blaise and Sydney. He worked revolved around her grandkids and all their activities. She was loved beyond measure by her family, even though she was “The Worlds Best Worrier.” She leaves 13 great grandchildren.

Once Lynn passed away, she moved to DeQuincy to be near Deanna and family. Her dementia began about 5 years ago and eventually led to her death. Grammie will be missed tremendously, and our lives will never be the same, but we know she is waiting for us on the other side-fully healed and extremely joyful. There were few kinder, compassionate, and loving people than Marion. She loved God and her family more than anything. As her family, we extend our sincere thanks to Heart of Hospice, especially Jill, Ashley, Paula and Vicky.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. The family will receive friends at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur on Saturday from 8:30 AM until leaving for the church.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandson, Blaise Smith, Liam Davies, Nick Scuderi, Dale Gremillion, Troy Broussard, Travis Broussard, and Paul Benton.8:30
