It is with sadness that the family of Mark Anthony Perrodin announces his passing on June 21, 2025.
A native of Basile, Louisiana, and later a resident of Lafayette and Lake Charles, Mark Perrodin lived a life filled with hard work, perseverance, and a deep love for his family. He graduated from Basile High School before earning a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Business from McNeese State University. Later in life, he obtained his real estate license and continued building a career that reflected his determination and willingness to embrace new opportunities.
His professional journey took him through many chapters. He served as a correctional officer at the Oakdale Detention Center and was among the officers taken hostage during the prison uprising, later receiving a medal in recognition of his service. He worked as a floor manager at Coushatta Casino before joining OSCA in the oilfield industry, where his work allowed him to travel internationally, including assignments in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. He eventually transitioned into real estate, where he enjoyed meeting new people.
While he valued his work, nothing was more important to him than his family. He was a devoted father to his only daughter, Shadda, and a proud grandfather to Kaelyn, Chloe, and Grady. Some of his happiest moments were spent watching his grandchildren compete in sports, celebrating their accomplishments, and simply enjoying being part of their lives.
Those who knew him best knew his sharp wit and a sense of humor all his own. He never felt the need to sugarcoat his opinions, and those closest to him wouldn't have wanted him any other way. His humor was genuine and unforgettable to the people fortunate enough to know him well.
He was an avid fan of football and wrestling and enjoyed following both throughout his life. He also had a passion for writing and storytelling. In his spare time, he dedicated himself to writing and publishing The Basile Flash, a work that reflected his love for his hometown and his Cajun heritage.
He is survived by his daughter, Shadda Ethridge and husband, Reggie Ethridge; his brothers, Stephen Perrodin of Lafayette and Guy Perrodin and wife, Stacey, of Basile; his sister, Nadja Perrodin Hays and husband, Tom, of Mandeville; and his beloved grandchildren, Kaelyn Hardwick, Chloe Thibodeaux, and Grady Ethridge. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Barbara Perrodin.
He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and memories that will continue to be shared for years to come. Though he may no longer be with us, those who loved him will always hear his voice in the quick-witted remarks, honest opinions, and family stories that made him uniquely himself.
A funeral for Mark will be Sunday, June 28, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and last until the start of the service.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
