Mark Wayne Veronie, 49, of Lake Charles, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, in his Grand Lake, Louisiana home. He was born on May 29, 1976, in Sulphur, Louisiana, to Joe and Linda Menard Veronie.
Mark and his beloved wife, Angel, made their home in Grand Lake, where they raised their three children and opened their hearts to many others, they proudly considered family. Mark was a devoted and proud father who never missed an opportunity to celebrate his children’s achievements. He treasured time spent with them and took great joy in sharing their accomplishments with others. Being called “PawPaw” was one of the greatest honors of his life, and he held his grandchildren close to his heart, always wishing for more time with them.
Mark found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially listening to music and stories that brought back memories of the “good old days.” His warm smile, heartfelt hugs, steady guidance, and unwavering love were constant reminders of his generous and caring spirit.
A proud graduate of Sulphur High School, Class of 1995, Mark excelled on the football field, earning recognition as an All-State Player of the Year. He held his classmates and teammates in high regard, considering them lifelong family. In 1995, Mark met the love of his life, Angel, and the two were married in 1997. From the very beginning, his devotion to her was evident and never wavered. When he wasn’t working, his time and attention were always centered on her.
Mark spent more than thirty years working as a Site Manager and API Dual Certified Mechanical Integrity Inspector, traveling often and never meeting a stranger. His work allowed him to build lasting relationships across the country, and he embraced everyone he met with genuine kindness and warmth. His extended family was large, united by the love and loyalty he showed so freely.
A faithful Catholic, Mark lived his faith daily, guided by Christ’s call to love others. His beliefs shaped his character and the way he treated everyone around him. He shared deep bonds with countless brothers and sisters in Christ, having made his Cursillo and attending the A.C.T.S. Retreat in 2021 with ICCS, experiences that impacted his life profoundly.
Those left to cherish Mark’s memory are his beloved wife, Angela Thomas “Angel” Veronie; his children, Will Veronie (Karleigh), Whitney Veronie (Ashton), and Reagan Veronie (Kace); his grandchildren, Ivy Blayke Veronie and Lonnie Mac Armentor; his brother, Joseph Veronie (Monica); his in-laws, Jackie and Barry Thomas, Sr.; along with numerous godchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Linda Veronie; his sisters, Tina Deville, Margaret Melder, and Darlene Deville; and his nephew, Allen Billideaux.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel, 4321 Lake Street, with Deacon Michael Tramel presiding.
