Marline Sonnier Chaumont, 88, of Sulphur, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on April 10, 2026. Marline loved her family. In healthier times, she was a good cook and had the family over on Sundays for the weekly family gatherings and meals. Marline was a devout catholic and very strong in her faith often reciting the rosary multiple times a day.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, John Andrew Chaumont (Betsy) and David Chaumont (Kay); her daughter, Nadine Galloway; grandchildren, Garrett Chaumont, Alesha Craven (Kyle), Tony Chaumont, Derrick Chaumont, Lance Galloway (Nikki), Jimmy Chaumont, Billy Chaumont, and Stephanie Galloway; great grandchildren, Marit, Elijah, Khristopher, Adalyn, Hunter, Tori, Malorie, Conner, Gage, and Mathew; brothers, Jerry Sonnier (Elaine), Julius Sonnier (Glenda), Joe Sonnier (Bonnie), Jimmy Sonnier (Kathy) and Johnny Sonnier; and her sisters, Mary Kristler (Phil) and Marguerite Bodach. She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, John and Femie Sonnier; her husband of 50 years, James Chaumont; one daughter, Allison Beth Chaumont; and her sister, Marvel “Marty” Carvar.
Services for Marline will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 10 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile, LA with a rosary being recited at 9:30 AM before the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur from 5-7 PM.
