Martha Hanks

Martha Hanks, 83, passed away on August 29, 2023, with her family by her side.  Martha was born on June 21, 1940, at home in Mermentau, LA, to Clifton and Libby Istre.  She enjoyed dancing, music, and riding motorcycles.  Martha lived her life to the fullest. She loved having a good cup of coffee with company.  Martha was a godly woman who loved the Lord.  Everywhere she went she shared the love of Jesus.  Martha’s biggest loves were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

Martha is survived by her children, Kurt Hanks and wife, Donna, Ladelle Ubernosky and husband, Glen and Lanette O’Quinn and husband, Shawn; ten grandchildren, Lucas Broussard and wife, Carla, Josh Broussard and wife, Kristie, Derek Hanks, Ryan Hanks, Jeremiah Jackson and wife, Brandi, Emily Jackson, Joshua Jackson and fiancé’, Armanda, Elisabeth McCarty and husband, Alex, Stephen O’Quinn and wife, Kourtney and Zachary O’Quinn and fiancé’, Madison; and 12 great grandchildren, Ricky, Bryan, Parker, Preston, Presley, Pierce, Harlie, Charlotte, Savannah, Dillinger, Vivian, and one on the way.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John “Tee” Hanks; two brothers, Winfred Istre and James Istre; and one grandbaby, Nicholas O’Quinn.

Services for Martha will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 10 AM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with Reverend Mickey Istre officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Jennings.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home from 4-8 PM and on Friday from 8:30 AM until time of service.
