Martha Henderson Arrington

Martha Henderson Arrington, 69, of Lake Charles died on Monday, November 21, 2016 in her residence.

Mrs. Arrington was born on May 14, 1947 in El Dorado, AR and lived in Lake Charles for the past 46 years. She retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board as an elementary teacher and a special education teacher. She taught at Dolby and Prien Lake Elementary schools. Mrs. Arrington also taught defensive driving courses. She was active in the celebration of Mardi Gras and was a member of the Mardi Gras board.

Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Mike Arrington of Lake Charles; a daughter, Lee Ryder (Chad) of Lake Charles; three siblings, Barbara Pray (Don) of Jeanks, OK, Nancy Morgan (T.L.) of Plano, TX, and Dr. Robert Henderson (Tommye) of Keithville, LA; six grandchildren, Nicholas and Ian Ryder, Taylor and Joe Tullos, Jade Richard, and Kaitlyn Arrington; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a group of very special friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, “Big Mike” Arrington and her parents, Lorene and F.H. Henderson.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 28, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ronnie Estes will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
