Mary Alice Brouhard

Mary Alice Heard Brouhard, 75, of Lake Charles, LA died on Friday, May 7, 2021 at her daughter’s residence. 

Mrs. Brouhard was born December 4, 1945 in Lake Charles, LA, where she was a lifelong resident.  She was a 1963 graduate of Lake Charles High School, graduated from McNeese State University with two master’s degrees in Business and English Education and received her +30.  Mrs. Brouhard began her teaching career at Lake Charles High School, where she taught sign language and typing.  She later taught English at Sulphur High School and Gifted English at Barbe High School, retiring in 2009.  She was an active member of Eastridge Baptist Church where she served where called throughout the years.  She enjoyed playing cards, but her true joy in life came from spending time with her friends and her family.  She took great pride in who her children became and for their love of the Lord.  She will be remembered for her wit and personality and was loved by all she met.

Mrs. Brouhard is survived by her daughters, Jill McLemore and husband Chuck of Lake Charles, Lori Bertrand and husband Gene of Lake Charles, and Emily Vidrine and husband Casey of Moss Bluff; son, Carleton Clifford “Cliff” Brouhard, Jr. and wife Rachel of Fulshear, TX; brother, Butch Heard and wife Cindy of Singer, LA; and grandchildren, Peyton and Kennedy McLemore, Trey and Ryan Brouhard, and Amelia, Tucker, Dylan, and Charli Vidrine.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Carleton Clifford Brouhard, Sr.; and her parents, Horace and Mary Lou Heard.

Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.  Reverend Alan Weishampel will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
