Mary Alice Lantia Mainer

Mary Alice Lantia Mainer, 82, of Lake Charles passed away Tuesday October 30, 2018 at a local care facility following a brief illness.

Mary was born in Opelousas, LA., to the late Isabelle and Elba Lantia. While she lived most of her life in Lake Charles, near her immediate family, she also had the opportunity to live in many other places with her husband, who served in the United States Air Force and Army.

Mary had a great love for growing things, cooking for family and friends, dancing to Cajun music, singing, and caring for anyone in need, especially her family. She was a proud Christian and loved to share the Good News of Jesus. Rosewood Nursing Center was her home for the past few years where she spent her time cheering others up and doting on those who needed a little extra attention.

Preceding Mary in death is her beloved husband of 50 years, Jim Mainer; one sister Joanne, and brothers Paul, David, Anthony, and Wayne. Those left to mourn her death and cherish her memories are her daughters, Rhonda, Pam, and Michelle; sons Michael and John; and sister Velma; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends she held close to her heart.

Visitation will be on Saturday November 10, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM with a Celebration of her Life to be at 3:00 PM. Private family interment alongside her husband Jim at Westlake Memorial Gardens will be at a later date.

Mary’s spunky and loving personality will be greatly missed by all who have had the pleasure of being a part of her life.
