Mary Ann Booth, 83 years old, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025 surrounded by family, after a brief illness. Mary Ann was born on August 31st, 1942 in Jennings, Louisiana to C.W. and Clara Dommert.
Mary Ann graduated from Jennings High School and went on to attend LSU, and McNeese State University. She was a retired real estate agent, having obtained her broker's license among other designations, and worked passionately for over 50 years. She was well known and highly respected in the Lake Charles real estate community, selling many homes and touching many lives along the way. She was an enthusiastic member of the Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting committee and enjoyed welcoming new businesses and people to the area.
Mary Ann was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Charles her entire adult life. She held numerous positions in the church and often volunteered to read to elementary school children through the church’s outreach program. Mary Ann was a proud cancer survivor, having beaten stage 3 ovarian cancer in 2002.
Mary Ann had slowed down in recent years due to memory issues, but still religiously walked and drank coffee at the Enos Derbonne Ward 3 Sports Complex every day. She never left a room without making a new friend. Family was Mary Ann’s driving force. She was extremely proud of her two granddaughters and all of their accomplishments. She was recently blessed with two great-granddaughters, whom she loved more than anything.
Mary Ann is survived by her two devoted sons, Scott Booth, and Samuel Booth (Kayla); her two granddaughters, Katherine Booth, and Sarah Booth-Sconzert (Phoenix), two great-granddaughters Juniper and Mabel Sconzert; her brother, Kirk Dommert (Nancy); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Donald Wayne Booth; and her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, 4321 Lake Street. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until the start of the service. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
