Marlene Bourgeois passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at home, with loving family by her side. She was born on May 18, 1955, to Mickey and Marjorie Haymark Colletta in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
She graduated from LaGrange High School in 1973 and proceeded to earn multiple degrees in education. That foundation began a 25 year career as an educator, serving as teacher, counselor, and principal.
Marlene married the love of her life, David Bourgeois, on June 28, 1975, and together they shared nearly 51 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion.
Marlene was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and treasured friend whose warmth touched everyone who knew her. She lived a life centered on faith and family, and found her greatest joy in caring for her family, celebrating life’s milestones, creating lasting traditions, and making everyone feel welcomed and loved. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel cared for, leaving a lasting impact on all whose lives she touched.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the countless memories she gave us and the love she shared so freely. Her legacy will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory are, her husband of nearly 51 years, David Bourgeois; her children, Brad Bourgeois (Suzanne), Sarah Homann (Kenny); her son Brian’s widow Megan Bourgeois (Kolby Stuart); her grandchildren, Barrett Bourgeois, Allee Bourgeois, Piper Bourgeois, Callen Bourgeois, Kate Bourgeois, Annie Bourgeois, Eva Bourgeois, Hadley Homann, and Landry Homann; her siblings, Marcia Carlson (Paul), Kathy Smith (Steve), Mike Colletta (Charlene), Diane Pousson, and Ricky Rosfeld (Karen, Dec’d) and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by, her parents; her son, Brian Bourgeois; and her sister, Karen Rosfeld.
Her funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 19, 2026 in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, 4321 Lake Street, with Father Aubrey Guilbeau presiding. Inurnment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
