Mary Louise Chargois

Mary Louise Chargois, 82 of Sulphur, La., passed away August 17, 2025. Mary was born October 29, 1942, to Albert and Agnes Chargois. She was proud of her heritage and to be a 3rd generation, Scottish.

Mary enjoyed visiting and playing dominoes with her 95-year-old friend, Lorena Daigle. She loved visiting her friends all over Sulphur that she had known her whole life. She loved bragging to her nieces that she could still get a driver’s license at 80. She loved spending time with her furry friend “Buddy” She worked in retail industry over the years, working at Walmart, Sam’s and convenience stores.

Mary is survived by her nieces; Sarah Butcher of Lafayette, La., Charlene Squires (Steve) of Lafayette La., Maxine Prejean (Randy) of Carencro, La., Faye Melancon (Chris) of Breaux Bridge, La., and Lisa Reed (James) of Westlake, La., nephews; James Welch (Debra) of Carencro, La., John Douglas Welch (Brandy) of Carencro, La., and Eddie Chargois of Houston TX., Eddie Chargois, Jr. of Sulphur, La. and many cousins and great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father; Albert Chargois, her mother; Agnes Gardner Chargois, sisters; Anna Jean Chargois Welch, and Betty Mae Chargois, brothers; Jimmie Chargois, Joe Chargois, Eddie Chargois and Johnny Chargois, nieces; Frances Gayle (Welch) Dupuis, Susan Chargois, nephew; Aaron Otis Welch.

The family would like to thank Carol Spence, Corliss Griffith and Chad and Kristen Wukash for all the care and attention they gave Mary to meet her needs.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Mary’s life with be at 3pm, Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur, La. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 12pm until the time of the service.
