Mary Katherine Doucet

December 4, 1931 — June 14, 2026

LeBleu Settlement

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Katherine Doucet, who left us on June 14, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on December 4, 1931, in Leesville, Louisiana, Mary spent her life nurturing those around her and creating a warm, loving home in LeBleu Settlement.

Mary was a devoted homemaker, known for her kindness and compassion. Her caring spirit extended beyond her immediate family; she often sat with the elderly, offering companionship and support, and she took great care of her sister-in-law, Debbie Doucet. As a young woman, Mary worked at the bus station in Lake Charles, where she learned the value of community. She also worked along side her husband Buddy manager 7-11 convenient stores.

Family was everything to Mary, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She is survived by her son, Joey Doucet (Belinda), and her cherished granddaughters, Sandy Landry (Joseph) and Samantha LaCour (Nick). Her great-grandson, Joseph Scot Landry, will fondly remember her warmth. Mary also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Lottie LeBleu and Helen Self; nephews, Terry LeBleu (Leslie), Ross Self (June), Keith Self (Gail), David Self, Mark Self (Lisa), and Brian Self (Melissa); niece, Tammy LeBleu (Chris).

Mary was never without her beloved dog, Chloe, who was by her side through thick and thin.

We invite friends and family to gather to celebrate Mary's life. A gathering of friends will take place at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, starting at 4:00 PM. This will be followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM. Mary's funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa. She will be laid to rest at Pine Hill Cemetery.

Mary Doucet will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur "Buddy" Doucet; her parents, Elzie and Azalee Coutee Self; her brother, Milton Self; and her sister-in-law, Debra Doucet.

The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Age of Welsh, Brighton Bridge Hospice, and special thanks to Hollie (Mary Ann),
