Mary Elizabeth Gram' Jackson Bridge November 30, 1932 - July 9, 2015 Mary Elizabeth Gram' Jackson Bridge, 82, passed peacefully from this life on July 9, 2015 with her family by her side. Mary was born to Sylvester Jackson and Cynthia Ella (Garrison) Jackson in LaPorte, Indiana on November 30, 1932. Her mother became a widow when Mary was only two years old and she was raised by her step father, Carl Isbell. In 1953 Mary met and married the love of her life, Robert LeRoy Bridge, Sr. and in 1966 the couple, along with their two children, moved south to Texas and eventually to Carlyss, La. where they lived out the remainder of their lives, except for a brief return to Indiana. Mary held many jobs over the course of her life. She owned Molly's Pizza in Texas (she did love her pizza), worked in medical records in a Texas hospital, and in Sulphur, La. she worked for an insurance agency. In her later years she was a regular on the bingo circuit and everyone knew Mrs. Mary. Each time she headed out the door for her game one could count on hearing, "Wish me luck." Since her husband's passing in 2000 she had resided with her son and daughter-in-law in Carlyss. By those who knew her best she was often referred to as "Dr. Mary" for her tendency to diagnose her various ailments. She delighted in watching her regular line-up of game shows and soap operas and was a tough Wheel of Fortune opponent as well as a loyal Saints fan. Countless pictures tell the tale of a gentle, sweet woman who cherished her family and friends. She spoke often of her husband, Bob, and their life together. She began each day with calls from her daughter, sister, and a dear friend. Gram always looked forward to weekday afternoons when the kids' got home from school. We will miss this precious woman so much. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Robert LeRoy Bridge, Sr.; one sister, Corrine Mae Hartford; one brother, Edward Jon Jackson; and two step brothers, Dr. Harry Isbell and Burle Isbell. Left to cherish the memory of this great lady are her son, Robert LeRoy Bridge, Jr. and his wife, Lisa (Kennedy) Bridge; her daughter, Cindy Lou (Bridge) Powell and husband, Ronnie; her sister, Barbara Ellen (Jackson) Murray; grandchildren, Emily (Bridge) Wallace, Robert Bridge III, Randall McDonald and Jason McDonald; numerous great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and friends. Not to be forgotten are her three fearless protectors, Coco, Bushhog, and ShyAnne. Mary's wishes were that she be cremated. To honor that request her family will hold a memorial service on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home, 107 W. Napoleon St. in Sulphur. Family members will spend some private time with her from 12 noon until 1 p.m. after which friends may pay their respects. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
