Lacassine- Mary Bellon Gerard, born in Lacassine on December 3, 1939, daughter of the late Louis and Thea (Marcantel) Bellon, passed away Monday, February 6, 2023, at the age of 83.
Mary was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and served with the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and being with family.
Mary worked at Market Basket for over 30 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Rena Bellon Broussard, and Linny Bellon.
Survivors are her loving and devoted husband of nearly 66 years, John Gerard, Jr.; sister-in-law, Wanda Hackett Bellon Matt; nephews, Randel “Randy” Broussard (Donna), and Danny Bellon (Margaret), and niece, Linda Thibodeaux,
A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. John the Evangelist Catholic on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 10 a.m. Rev. Jom Joseph, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. and will resume Friday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
