MARY LOU ARDOIN
March 30, 1932–April 2, 2024
On April 2, 2024, Mary Lou Ardoin, at the age of 92, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed peacefully. Mary Lou was born with joy in her heart to Eloi and Vinice Naquin Landreneau in Mamou, Louisiana. She proudly hailed her Cajun roots with a love for dancing and music. As a young woman, she met and married her husband of 42 years, Joseph Weber Ardoin. Together, they built a legacy for their five children: Phyllis and husband, Henry Leger; Philip and wife, Cynthia Ardoin; Paulette Renee and husband, Marcus Keith Arceneaux; Patricia and husband, Stephen Smith; and Pamela and husband, John Hodge.
Her passion for her beloved family and faith were evident to all who entered her home. As an active member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church, she received recognition for serving as lecturer for over 25 years. She was an avid member of the Legion of Mary. Among her enviable attributes of being a loving-nurturing wife, mother, and grandmother, was her pride of retiring after more than 40 years of dedication as an employee of the Lake Charles American Press.
She is survived by her 5 children; 14 grandchildren: Jay Moon; Jason and wife, Amber Leger; Eric Leger; Erin and wife, Sherry Leger; David and wife, Melanie Ardoin; Jeffrey and wife, Ashley Ardoin; Nick and wife, Marcie Arceneaux; Matt Arceneaux (Brooke); Josh and wife, Mady Arceneaux; Corbett and wife, Melissa Reed; Dakota and wife, Johnna Smith; Kallie Smith; Danica Viator; and John Hodge, Jr.; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eura Mae Vidrine; brothers: Elvin Dale and wife, Theresa Sandra Landreneau; and Donald and wife, Darlene Landreneau; and her dearest, devoted friend, Joe Miller.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Weber Ardoin; grandchildren: Heidi Adele Hinton, Joseph Bill Hodge, Steven Philip Ardoin, and Michael James Reed; and her parents, Eloi and Vinice Naquin Landreneau
Her unwavering devotion to family, faith, and praying the rosary daily throughout her life will remain a cherished memory to all who knew her. Her beautiful smile will forever live in the hearts and bring joy to her loved ones.
