Mary B. Reed, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 10, 2023, at age 93.
Mary, born on June 29, 1930, was the daughter of the late Calvin and Victoria Ceasar Brown. She enjoyed being with family, watching Family Feud, and Wheel of Fortune, eating, talking on the phone and fussing with her son.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Willie Brown, Sr., Calvin Brown, Jr., Ivy Brown, Alex Brown, Clement Brown, Sr., Alice Miller, and Rosalee Cormier.
Left to cherish her wonderful memory is her son, Johnnie Brown (Diana); brothers, Clarance Brown, Sr. (Janice), Lester Brown (Maryann), and bonus daughter, Wilma Terry; stepdaughters, Idel Livings, Prophetess Cynthia Reed, and Sarah Reed; stepson, Paul Reed; two grandchildren, Jonathan Brown Sr. (Valerie), Darneilla Reed (Kevin); five great-grandchildren, Jonathan Brown, Jr., Kevin J. Reed (Carley), Joseph Brown (Alexis), Devin Reed, and Kynlee Kaough; a host of stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Clarance Brown, Jr. officiating. A burial will follow in Lorrain DeRouen Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins in the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Active pallbearers are Tony Dugas, Mervin Jones, Jerry Prudhomme, Roy Owens, Jason Dugas, and Desire Dugas. Honorary are Jonathan Brown, Sr., Kevin T. Reed, Jonathan Brown, Jr., Kevin J. Reed, Joseph Brown, and Devin Reed.
