Mary Lou Abshire Young

Mary L. Young, born March 3, 1945, daughter of the late William and Eliza (Fontenot) Abshire, passed away in Fairfield, OH on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the age of 81.

Mary is survived by her son, Kevin Young (Deborah) of Mason, OH; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, her sister Annie (Abshire) Fontenot, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, son Kendall Joseph, and siblings, Melard Breaux, Sr., Vernice (Breaux) LeBouef, Dewey Breaux, Louis Abshire, and Gertie (Abshire) Lapointe.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and aunt. She was a generous soul, always willing to give whatever she could when someone was in need.

Funeral services are Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 10 a.m. in Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa, with Rev. Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. in Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa.
