Matthew James LaCombe, 48, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Matt was born on January 7, 1978, at Allen Parish Hospital in Kinder, Louisiana, to Floyd and Jacqueline Desjardine LaCombe. He grew up in Lake Charles and graduated from Iowa High School, where he played saxophone as a member of the school band. His love of music remained an important part of his life throughout the years.
Matt built his career managing refractory crews at refineries throughout the United States and in Colombia. His work took him to many places, but he made his home in Iowa, Louisiana. He will be remembered for his love of music and, most especially, for the deep affection he held for his family and friends. During his final days, Matt was surrounded and supported by the many friends whose lives he had touched.
Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Floyd LaCombe; his brothers, Michael LaCombe and wife Cheryl, and Micah LaCombe; as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline LaCombe, and his brother, Marcus P. LaCombe.
A Memorial Service honoring Matt's life will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, 4321 Lake Street, with Father Nathan Long presiding. Burial will follow (weather permitting) in Orange Grove and Graceland Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
