Maya Elizabeth Laughlin

Maya Elizabeth Laughlin, infant daughter of Sean and Jailea Laughlin, passed away on September 14, 2026, at Texas Children’s Hospital. Maya was very wiggly in Mom’s belly. She had the cutest cheeks. Her brother loved her and would always run to mom and dad, give a big hug and say, “we’re having a baby.” People described her as feisty and strong. Maya was always a little bit happier after she ate. Maya was so loved and will be missed.

Maya is survived by her parents, Sean and Jailea and her big brother, Carter, who will miss Maya for the rest of their lives. She is also survived by her grandparents, Gregg Laughlin, Vicki Laughlin, Chris and Lanice Lieber; and her 8 aunts, 4 uncles and 12 cousins.

Services for Maya will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lake Charles. Burial will be private.

The family would like to thank all of the doctor’s and nurses at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for Women, Manning Family Children’s and Texas Children’s Hospital for caring for their daughter.
