Melba Richard Faulk

March 6, 1938 — November 14, 2018

Melba Richard Faulk, 80, of Grand Lake died Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in the comfort of her son’s residence.

 

Mrs. Faulk was a native and lifelong resident of Grand Lake.  She worked as a substitute Pre-K teacher and volunteer at Grand Lake Elementary.  She was an active member of Cameron Council on Aging Advisory Board and participated in Senior Olympics.  She was also a member of the Volunteer Fire Department and the Home Demonstration Club.  She loved Christmas, her collectables, dancing with Delaine’s School of Dance and the countless events of Mardi Gras, especially those of Krewe du Lac of which she reigned as Queen.  A lady of grace and prayer, Mrs. Faulk was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and Altar Society.  Mrs. Faulk’s greatest love was her family.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of sixty-two years, Morgan “Black” Faulk; three daughters, Charlene Babineaux and husband Joey, Janice Landry and husband Chris and Mondell Garcia and husband Raul; five sons, Ricky Faulk, Kevin Faulk, Jared Faulk and wife Beth, Richard Faulk, Terry Faulk and wife Monica; ten grandchildren, Joey Babineaux, II (Lisa), Mitchell Babineaux (Nici), Cheri Compton (Chris), Heather Miller, Chase Landry (Rachel), Shaun Garcia, Gabriel Garcia, Garrett Faulk, Gavin Faulk and  Cayden Faulk; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Mae Dell Ransom of Lake Charles and grand dog, Sarge.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nolton and Gladys Vige Richard and a sister, Jean Nell Brashear.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 17, 2018 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Big Lake under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate.  Interment will follow in Grand Lake Community Cemetery.  Visitation Friday will be from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00PM.  Visitation Saturday will be from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM in the funeral home.
