Melina Johnson Conner

June 25, 1928 — March 1, 2017

Melina Johnson Conner, 88 passed away on March 1, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.  Melina was born on June 25, 1928 to Lawrence and Annie Johnson in Basile, LA.

 

Melina worked for many years as the cafeteria manager at Barbe High School.  She loved to spend time in her garden and flower beds.  Melina loved to cook, can and bake, especially for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the center of her life.  She loved to dance and could often be found on Saturday night at the VFW with her girlfriends.

 

Melina is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Harry Cliff Conner, Sr.  Also, preceding her are; her son and daughter-in-law Harry Conner Jr. and Gayle; and, four brothers, Allen, Tony, Curley and O.P. Johnson.

 

Left to cherish her memory are; her daughter, Linda Galley (Elroy); her grandchildren, Bryan (Julie) Galley, Kevin (Dee) Galley, Jody Galley, Todd (Andrea) Conner, and Chad (Layne) Conner.  Her great grandchildren are:  Claire and Conner Galley, Monty Galley, Cheramie (Paul) Hebert, Morgan German, Coby and MaKayla Conner, and Keenly and Addison Conner.  Melina has one Great-great grandchild, Kara.  She is also survived by her sister Deola Guillory.

 

The family will receive guests from 4-9PM on Friday March 3, 2017, with a 6:30 rosary, at Johnson Funeral Home and will continue on Saturday from 8-10AM.  Services will be at 10:00AM on Saturday, March 4, 2017, in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home officiated by Msgn. Jace Eskind.  Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens immediately following services.
