It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Melinda Courville, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this life on June 11, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on November 18, 1958, in Kinder, Louisiana, Melinda dedicated her life to her family and home, embodying the spirit of love and devotion as a cherished homemaker.
Melinda will be remembered for her unwavering kindness and her joyful spirit. A passionate gardener, she found solace in tending to her plants and transforming her yard into a beautiful sanctuary. She was also an active member of The Family Place Church of Reeves, where she nurtured her faith and fostered connections with her community. In her spare time, Melinda enjoyed playing bingo, often gathering with friends to share laughs and create lasting memories. She also found great joy watching the birds outside her window.
Melinda is survived by her three sons, Duke Soileau (Tasha), Quincy Soileau (Brittney), and Quentin Soileau; her daughter, Shellie Fontenot (Jerry); and her cherished grandchildren, who were a source of immense joy: Jeffery Fontenot, Kristin Maddox (Stephen), Allison Fontenot, Abbie Soileau (Maverick Ordiway), Caleb Soileau (Nora), Shyann Soileau, Mattie Mae Soileau, Aubrey-Kate, Aizlee, Arrington, "Hopie" Caitlin Skinner (Dominique), and Ethan Soileau. Melinda also leaves behind a loving legacy of great-grandchildren: Madison, Chloe, Amelia, Nadline, Caden, Joseph, Kyleigh, Grayson, Ellianna, Justin, and Jace.
A gathering of friends will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa, where family and loved ones can come together to celebrate her life.
