Melissa Ann Sonnier, born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on August 16, 1966, daughter of Theodore and Cathy (Maynard) Meyers, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024, after a brave battle with a lengthy illness, at the age of 57.
Melissa attended Sulphur High School. An avid reader, she enjoyed fishing, watching butterflies and birds in her backyard. She was an excellent cook, and was known for her sticky chicken, and rice & gravy. Her competitive nature emerged when she played board and card games with her family. She relaxed by coloring, and watching tv.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Cathy Meyers, and sister, Lori Aucoin.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Sonnier; daughters, Amanda Thorne Willis and husband, Robert J. Willis, and Mattie J. Sonnier, and fiancé, Tylor L. Skipper; father, Theodore “Teddy” Meyers; grandchildren, Jensen, Blake, Elaine, and Gabrien Willis.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sulphur on Sunday, January 14, 2024 beginning at 3 p.m., with a Memorial service at 4:30 p.m. Pastor Leslie Mansell, Celebrant. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
