Melissa Young Doucet, 27, of St. Rose, LA, formerly of Lake Charles, LA, passed away at her home on December 2, 2016.
Melissa was born February 3, 1989 in Stillwater, OK and moved to Lake Charles in 1993. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Barbe High School in 2007, where she was in the French Immersion program and an active member of the Varsity Swim Team. She attended St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church, where she was active in the youth program. Melissa attended LSU and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a minor in French in 2012. She obtained her Professional Engineering license in 2016. After graduation, Melissa worked in Baton Rouge for Shaw/CB&I for three years. She was most recently employed with Entergy in New Orleans. She enjoyed hunting and boating with her husband, Ben, and their beloved chocolate lab, Reed. She also loved to spend time with her friends and family.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Benjamin C. Doucet of St. Rose, LA; parents, Gregory and Rhonda Young of Lake Charles; sister, Rachael Young Lambert (Stuart) of St. Francisville, with nephew, Joseph Baten arriving in February; in-laws, Richard and Nicole Doucet; brother-in-law, Andrew Doucet (Lauren), with niece, Chloe, of Luling, LA; and sister-in-law, Caitlin Doucet Nicholas (Glenn) of Denham Springs, LA, with niece, Isabelle Grace arriving in February.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. John Robert Black will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
