Melvin E. Ardoin, Sr., 92, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022.
Born on November 10, 1929 in Ardoin Cove to the late Lionel and Lucille Ardoin, Melvin retired from Alcoa Aluminum Plant. He and his late wife Gerry attended Tom Hebert Baptist Church and were involved with missionary work in Mexico.
Melvin lived a wonderful life, full of family gatherings and lots of good food. He enjoyed shrimping, being outdoors, keeping his grass cut and tending to his garden.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine “Gerry” Josephine Ardoin; parents; son, Ken Ardoin; daughter-in-law, Brenda Ardoin; great-granddaughter, Paige Ardoin; brothers, James, Gene and Wilton Ardoin; sister, Wilda Abbott; brothers-in-law, Henry Boone, and Richard Guillotte.
Melvin is survived by his sons, Melvin “Cowboy” Ardoin, and Tony Ardoin (Melinda); daughter, Sharon Ardoin Martinez (Carlos); sisters, Helen Boone, and Bessie Guillotte; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Saturday in the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
