Meredith Montie

February 13, 1938 — September 20, 2025

Meredith Ethel (Giles) Montie, 87, passed peacefully into her heavenly home on September 20, 2025, in Carlyss, Louisiana, where she resided with her daughter Pam and Tommy Tidwell since losing her home in Creole to Hurricane Laura. Born on February 13, 1938, to Alfred and Iona Mae (Morgan) Giles, Meredith lived a life marked by beauty, faith, and devotion to her family.

During her younger years, she was honored to be the first Miss Cameron Parish, then on to missing Fur Queen by two points. A proud graduate of Creole High School, she was voted Most Beautiful her senior year and was an active student, serving as FHA Secretary, 4-H Vice President, cheerleader, and working part-time at the Cameron Medical Clinic.

Meredith had a heart for people and loved spending time with her family. She was a woman of deep faith who devoted many hours to reading and studying the Word of God. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and she lived out her faith through her kindness and care for others.

Those left to cherish her are, her daughters, Pam Tidwell (Tommy) and Phyllis Montie (Jarine); her daughter-in-law, Ellen Montie; her grand daughter, Tonya Montie; her grandsons, Rusty Benson (Shelly), Robbie Montie (Allie), Jacob Benson, and her grand daughter, Cherie Tidwell; her great-grandchildren, Kinley (Brandon), Brailyn (Dakota), Austin, Zoey, Abbie, Randy O'Neil, Juliette, Selena, and Matthew; and her great-great-grandchildren, Andie, twins Alice and Arlowe; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Iona Giles; her beloved husband, Kenneth Montie; her son, Mark Montie; her daughter, Stephanie Benson; granddaughter, Rushonda Benson; grandson, John Mark Montie; great grandson, Kaiden Tidwell; in-laws, Hun and Rose Montie; sister, Liz Boudreaux (Perry); and in-laws Mary Theriot (Winston).

In accordance with Meredith's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, and no services are planned.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who prayed for Meredith and for them as she faced her battle with cancer.
