Michael Detlef Ford

Michael Detlef Ford, 58, of Sulphur, LA passed away on May 19, 2025, in Houston, TX. He was born on August 25, 1966, in Sulphur, LA to Leon and Barbara Ford. He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball as well as teaching Special education classes at various local schools, including his last school, Sulphur High School. Michael was a sports advocate supporting the Astros and Dallas Cowboys. Michael graduated from Saint Louis Catholic High School in 1984 and went on to acquire a Bachelor's degree at McNeese State University. He enjoyed playing with his dog Biscuit, volunteering for Big Brothers Big Sisters and serving Thanksgiving meals to people in need. Survivors include three siblings, Libby Ford, Charlie Ford, Mimi Ryan and husband Jacob; one niece, Annemarie Ryan; and numerous cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday May 24, 2025, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Carlyss. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM With a rosary at 6:00 PM on Friday May 23, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. Visitation will resume on Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. Burial will be at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery. Father Sibi Kunnini M.S. will officiate services.

Michael's special request was that people attending his visitation wear jeans and their favorite sports jersey or team T-shirt.
