Mike LaFleur, 71, of Lake Charles passed away on Friday, November 6, 2026 in a local hospital.
Born on October 11, 1955, in Port Arthur, Texas, he spent his early years there before moving to Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he graduated from Barbe High School in 1973.
He dedicated 20 years of his career to carpentry and was a proud member of Carpenters Local #953. He later worked as an operator at W.R. Grace for 28 years before retiring in 2019.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in LeBleu Settlement and a former member of the Lake Charles Jaycees. He also had a passion for coaching Little League Baseball, sharing his love of the game with young athletes from 1976 until 1991.
In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, grilling outdoors, and cheering on his beloved Texas Longhorns. An avid sportsman, he also made fitness a part of his routine, working out at Dynamic Dimensions in Moss Bluff.
Above all, he cherished his family and the memories made together. The holidays were especially near and dear to his heart. He loved celebrating, decorating, dressing up, and filling every occasion with laughter and joy alongside family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 20 years, Debbie Derouen LaFleur; children, Christina (Lance) Corner, Greg (Jennifer) LaFleur, and Lacy (Jeremy) Bradley; stepchildren, Jessica Wright, Duston Erwin, and Kayla (Blaine) Hebert; and 20 beloved grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. and Francis LaFleur and siblings, Yvonne LaFleur, Margaret Oubre, and Deanna Glidden.
A funeral mass will begin at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in LeBleu Settlement. Father Anthony Fontenot will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
