Michael Lynn Labove

Michael Lynn LaBove, 65, of Westlake, LA, died at 7:18 AM on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

 

Mr. LaBove was born June 14, 1950 in Creole, LA, where he was the first born at Dix Clinic. He was raised in Cameron, LA and graduated from South Cameron High School. He remained in Cameron Parish until moving to Westlake, LA in 2006 after Hurricane Rita. Mr. LaBove worked as a dispatcher in the oil field industry for most of his life and as a security guard with Isle of Capri for a few years. He was a member of Water’s Edge Gathering. Paw paw, as he was known to many, enjoyed fishing, playing games, reading books and the Bible, and collected movies. He also loved to play Bingo with his wife, but his greatest joy in life came from his family, especially his grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a jokester and loved to make others laugh.

 

Mr. LaBove is survived by his son, Robert D. “Boogie” LaBove and wife Renee of Sweetlake; daughter, Christie L. LaBove of Westlake; brothers, J. D. LaBove and wife Patsy of Iowa, LA and Carroll LaBove of Lake Charles; mother-in-law, Velma Merritt of Jennings; brother-in-law, Michael Merritt and wife Theresa of Johnson Bayou; sister-in-law, Helen Landry and husband Bryon of Jennings; special niece, Melissa Bertrand and husband Roger of Iowa, LA; grandchildren, Kaye Leigh LaBove, Brandon LaBove, Kyron LaBove, and Kyndall LaBove; along with numerous other family members and friends that he loved dearly.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Faye LaBove; parents, Joe and Alberta Rutherford LaBove; father-in-law, Robert Merritt; siblings-in-law, Margaret and Nolton Saltzman and Dorothy and George LaBove; and his grandson, Kamryn Bryce LaBove.

 

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Tony Bourque will officiate. Burial will follow in Rutherford Cemetery in Oak Grove, LA. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
