Michael (Mike) James Ellender, Sr.

Michael (Mike) James Ellender, Sr., 70, of Sulphur, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 03, 2021 in Lake Charles, LA.

Michael Ellender was a native and longtime resident of Sulphur, LA. He was a graduate of Sulphur High School and retired from the US Army. Michael enjoyed playing bingo, dancing and spending time with his family and friends. Family was very important to him and he enjoyed entertaining others with his sense of humor and contagious personality. Mike was passionate about Cajun music, dancing and enjoyed local festivals.  

Preceding Michael in death are his parents, Maurice (Morris) and Eva Oquain Ellender, wife Dorothy Ellender and son Michael Ellender Jr. He is survived by his 3 children; son, Jonathan Ellender (daughter-in-law, Cassi Manuel Ellender) of Sulphur and son, Morris Ellender (daughter-in-law, Loraine Taylor Ellender) of Lake Charles, daughter, Belinda Ellender of DeQuincy, LA; and 2 sisters; Delores Ellender Pourcher and Elaine Ellender Bertrand both of Sulphur; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Simple Traditions by Johnson Funeral Home, 3448 5^th Ave, Lake Charles, LA.
