Michael Wayne Moreau or as many knew him “Mo” or “Mike” passed away on November 19, 2024, at the age of 64. Mike was born on July 6, 1960, in Opelousas, LA to Tonise Jr. and Maudry Moreau. Most of his life he called Lawtell, LA home until moving to Port Barre only a few years ago. For the majority of his life he worked at Dimmick’s Auto Parts in Port Barre which became a Crow-Burlingame Company known as Bumper to Bumper. He began in Opelousas but spent the majority of his tenure at their store in Port Barre. For 42 years, Mike worked every day helping farmers, ranchers, mechanics, and everyday people with their mechanical, industrial, and household needs and parts. Throughout those years, Port Barre became a second home to him and is where he has spent the last few years as a resident. Mike was an avid LSU and Saints fan and very rarely missed a game. He also loved watching the horses run at the horse races and also laughed and enjoyed watching westerns and wrestling on TV.
Though not a man of many words, he loved big and those that were special to him knew it from the look he gave you or the snicker of a smile he showed. You also knew how much he loved and cared for you by the amount of joking he did with you or the hard time he would give you which was done with love and a big smile. Mike’s biggest smiles came from when he would play and cut up with his grandsons, Hayden and Jackson “Jack” Moreau. He took pride in the job he had recently acquired and that was picking up Hayden from school during the week.
Mike is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn “Dolly” Moreau, his sons Kevin Moreau and Chad Moreau and wife Jennifer Richard Moreau and grandsons, Hayden and Jackson “Jack” Moreau. Also carrying on his memory is his brother Joseph “Joey” Moreau and wife Amaryllis, and sisters Carolyn Caskey and husband Billy, and Angela Capon and husband Steve along with his Uncle Harold Dale Soileau and wife Kathy. Family that became his 46 plus years ago after meeting Dolly and cherish the times together are Debra Stelly and husband Julien “Dale” Stelly, Jackie Pitre and husband Paul, Joseph “Ronnie” Boudreaux and wife Kaye, Lisa Boudreaux, Diane Boudreaux, and Sheila Boudreaux. He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews. Also remembering him; although not blood related, is a life-long friend, Hulin “Jimmy” Hollier who was a constant in both Mike’s life and the families for over 50 years.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Tonise Moreau, Jr., Maudry Moreau, his brother James Anthony “Big Man” Moreau, and uncles Ray Soileau, Irvin Soileau, Clarence “BooRock” Soileau. Also joining him in heaven are his brothers-in-law, Erney Boudreaux, Deacon Dwayne Boudreaux, Bruce Boudreaux.
Pallbearers will be Billy Caskey Sr., Joey Moreau, Ronnie Boudreaux, Paul Pitre, Jimmy Hollier, and Adam Boudreaux. Honorary Pallbearers will be Hayden and Jackson Moreau.
